Through much hard work, Rese Barrett has turned a run-down Sonoma villa into a successful B&B. Her helper, Lance Michelli, has proved his skills as chef and host, and they have agreed to run the inn as partners. But Lance is driven to unravel the mystery of papers he found buried in the basement: the papers left by his grandfather, who built this house two generations ago. Taking Rese with him, he returns to his family in New York City. There, his ancient Nonna knows the story of these papers. But is it a tale of courage--or betrayal?
