The Heroes, or Greek Fairy Tales for my Children by Charles Kingsley is a collection of three Greek mythology stories: Perseus, The Argonauts, and Theseus.

The content of the text is a conversation between Krishna and Arjuna taking place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra just prior to the start of a climactic war.

Tom, an ill-treated chimney-boy, jumps into a cool stream to clean the soot off himself, and becomes a water baby, cleaner and happier than he has ever been, in a fairy world under river and sea.
