    Résumé:

The daughter of a detective, Philipa Lowe finds herself thrown into a mystery that would have challenged even her father.

Having sold up her employment agency in New York, Lowe is returning home to England on the QE2.

A wealthy woman, she need never work again, but already she is finding herself bored.

Then she meets Bella Fields, better known as the TV star Roma Felucci.

Bella’s infectious personality and intrusive behaviour leaves Philipa wondering what lies beneath this challenging woman.

There is an underlying tension with Bella, which Philipa cannot put her finger on.

Is Bella fleeing from something — perhaps her husband, Jay? Or does she feel threatened by what is to face her in England?

Bella declares she is returning to her home town after ten years in the States, merely to see the old house again. This seems innocuous enough, but, if this all there is to it, why is she picked up by the police on disembarking at Southampton?

Philipa pursues her to Horseley Green, to find that Bella is wanted for questioning. When she is released, Philipa starts to discover a much more sinister tale.

Bella's father disappeared ten years ago, though suspicion surrounded the case.

    Perhaps he had been killed.

Philipa is about to find out.

‘Bury Him Darkly’ is a fast-paced crime thriller from a master of British crime.
