    Auteur: Descartes, René
    Résumé:

"I think, therefore I am" Discourse on the Method is one of the most influential works in the history of modern philosophy. It may be divided into six parts: in the first, various considerations touching the Sciences; in the second, the principal rules of the Method which the Author has discovered; in the third, certain rules of Morals deduced from this Method; in the fourth, the reasoning by which the existence of God and of the Human Soul, the foundations of Metaphysics, are established; in the fifth, the order of Physical questions investigated, including the explication of the motion of the heart and other difficulties pertaining to Medicine, as well as the difference between the soul of man and that of brutes; and, in the last, what the Author believes is required for greater advancement in the investigation of Nature, along with the reasons that led him to write. Meditations on First Philosophy, first published in 1641, consists of six meditations. In these, Descartes first discards all belief in things that are not absolutely certain, then establishes what can be known for sure. The book presents Descartes' metaphysical system in its most detailed form and expands upon his philosophical system first introduced in the fourth part of his Discourse on the Method.
