  • Hotel King Azul

    Creator

    Turenne, Martine

    Abstract

  • The golden shower or what men want

    Creator

    Novak, Luka

    Charney, Urška

    Abstract

The first novel by renowned Slovene publisher, politician, and TV personality Luka Novak is an intellectual farce, a surrealistic gallop through philosophy and art. With echoes of Thomas Pynchon and Woody Allen (with Hegel chanting in the background), we follow the ethical, erotic, and culinary adventures of a neurotic Slovene psychiatrist, a sassy Bosnian masseuse, a German mythology professor, and a politically-influential building contractor, involved in religious iconographic propaganda that incites a revolution in Venezuela.

  • Leper tango

    Creator

    MacKinnon, David

    Abstract

Franck Robinson, forty-something, chaser of skirts, usually the low-end sidewalk variety, combs the streets of Paris in search of Sheba, whom he imagines to be the ultimate Parisian whore. Franck drifts from bordello to bar, and ultimately finds himself trapped by his own demons of alcohol and a fatal attraction. With this hilarious novel, the Canadian MacKinnon showcases a talent for the absurd and a mastery of language reminiscent of Henry Miller.

    O'Donnell, Darren

    Abstract

Toronto's CN Tower has fallen into the lake. The city is crowded with refugees from the US. Michael and Ruth Racco's dad has, in a rash of road rage, perpetrated the Backhoe Massacre. And, in the middle of it all, little Jimmy Hardcastle has, in the fountain of a suburban mall, walked on water. As helicopters chop the air over Toronto and a paranoid America slides into fascism, kids from south of the border collide with kids from north of the border and, over lattes, ruminate on new possibilities.
