How do we stop racist ideas and violence if the very foundation of our society is built upon white supremacy? How do we end systemic racism if the majority do not experience it or question its existence?

The story of the rise and fall of the Energy East pipeline. The project was to be a monumental undertaking, beginning near Edmonton and stretching over four thousand kilometres, across two hundred First Nation reserves, through Montreal to the Irving Oil refineries in Saint John, NB. The crude oil flowing across six provinces would have found a much higher price shipped to world markets than south to the United States. Marie-Anne Lagimodière was a force to be reckoned with. Her honeymoon was a four-month journey from Quebec to Pembina with a brigade of tough voyageurs, and she criss-crossed Canada with her fur trader husband during the early 1800s. Her legacy is enormous: within 10 years of her death, at the ripe old age of 95, she already had more than 630 direct descendants including Louis Riel, the Métis leader. 2004.
