Abstract
Set in outback Queensland at the turn of the century, this novel traces the life of Ben McReady, pioneer of the cattle industry. Embarking on a career as a cattle duffer, he meets and marries Anne and, interrupted only by the first World War, proceeds to become one of the wealthiest station owners in Queensland.
