Abstract
During his nearly three decades of service, Pope John Paul II became the most recognized person in the world. He upheld many of the traditional values of the Catholic Church while also showing his progressive nature through his lifelong concern for the poor and suffering people of the world. The entire world mourned when he passed away in April of 2005, but he left an extraordinary legacy that will be felt forever.
