Hadrian's Wall. The most heavily fortified border in the Roman Empire. A significant portion of the wall still exists and for much of its length, the wall can be followed on foot by Hadrian’s Wall Path. It is the most popular tourist attraction in Northern England, and the subject of author Carl H. Harrison’s first book, A Tramp in England.
