    Abstract

An interactive site-specific audio fiction is set into the landscape of a city park in eastern Canada, experienced via an iphone app. Short stories by four award-winning authors are GPS-linked to actual locations where the story events happen. When listeners walk through the park, their smartphones trigger the linked audio excerpts, and they hear fictional events happening right where they're standing. This program is for listeners who can't get to the park: a virtual walk-through. It is what one walker hears in her earphones as she strolls through the park.

    Creator

    Proulx, Annie

    Abstract

Returning to the territory of "Brokeback Mountain," National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize-winner Annie Proulx delivers a stunning and visceral collection of new stories. In Fine Just the Way It Is, she has expanded the limits of the form. Her stories about multiple generations of Americans struggling through life in the West are a ferocious, dazzling panorama of American folly and fate. Proulx's characters try to climb out of poverty and desperation but get cut down as if the land itself wanted their blood.

  • No one belongs here more than you : stories

    Creator

    July, Miranda

    Abstract

Filmmaker and performing artist Miranda July brings her extraordinary talents to the audio short story in a startling, sexy, and tender collection. In these stories, July gives the most seemingly insignificant moments a sly potency. A benign encounter, a misunderstanding, a shy revelation can reconfigure the world. With great compassion and generosity, July reveals her characters' idiosyncrasies and the odd logic and longing that govern their lives. No One Belongs Here More Than You is a stunning debut, the work of a writer with a spectacularly original and compelling voice.
