  • Don't think of an elephant! : know your values and frame the debate

    Creator

    Lakoff, George

    Abstract

Author George Lakoff, who has become a key advisor to the Democratic Party, asserts that the Republican Party has enjoyed recent success because of the way it expertly "frames" the issues. Using carefully chosen terminology like "tax relief" and "family values," conservatives have cast themselves in a positive light and convinced many Americans to vote against their true beliefs. Now Lakoff shows how progressives can beat conservatives at their own game.

  • My Queen and I

    Creator

    HAMILTON, Willie

    Abstract

What is the role of the monarchy in Britain today? Is the Queen really a non-political figure? How much does the Crown exist in the interests of ordinary people, and are they receiving value for money? All these and many other pertinent and impertinent questions are discussed in Mr Hamilton's penetrating and enlightening analysis of an institution about which he holds strong and well-known views. He is concerned to strip away the myth, sentiment and secrecy which surround the monarchy, and argues that if we must have one it should at least exist on an open and honest basis.

  • Mein Kampf - Volume 1

    Creator

    Hitler, Adolf

    Abstract

Mein Kampf is a book by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. It combines elements of autobiography with an exposition of Hitler's political ideology. Hitler began the dictation of the book while imprisoned for what he considered to be "political crimes" after his failed Putsch in Munich in November 1923. Though Hitler received many visitors earlier on, he soon devoted himself entirely to the book. As he continued, Hitler realized that it would have to be a two-volume work, with the first volume scheduled for release in early 1925.

    Adams, Brooks

    Abstract

Brooks Adams (1848- 1927), was an American historian and a critic of capitalism. He believed that commercial civilizations rise and fall in predictable cycles. First, masses of people draw together in large population centers and engage in commercial activities. As their desire for wealth grows, they discard spiritual and creative values. Their greed leads to distrust and dishonesty, and eventually the society crumbles.
