  • Thirst

    Creator

    Hudson, Kerry

    Abstract

An unconventional love story from Kerry Hudson, one of the most acclaimed debut authors of 2012. The beginning of a relationship is usually all about getting to know each other, about deep and meaningful conversations far into the night, about comparing experiences and stories, triumphs and calamities until we know each other inside out. Not so for Dave and Alena. He's from London, she's from Siberia. They meet in the shoe department of a swanky London department store, where she's up to no good and it's his job to catch her.

  • The dandelion years

    Creator

    James, Erica

    Abstract

Ashcombe was the most beautiful house Saskia had ever seen as a little girl. A rambling pink cottage on the edge of the Suffolk village of Melbury Green, its enchanting garden provided a fairy-tale playground of seclusion, a perfect sanctuary to hide from the tragedy which shattered her childhood. Now an adult, Saskia is still living at Ashcombe and as a book restorer devotes her days tending to the broken, battered books that find their way to her, daydreaming about the people who had once turned their pages.

  • The enormous room

    Creator

    Cummings, E. E.

    Abstract

Drawing on E. E. Cummings's experiences in France as a volunteer ambulance driver, this novel takes us through a series of mishaps that led to the poet's being arrested for treason and imprisoned. Out of this trauma Cummings produced a work like no other- a story of oppression and injustice told with his characteristic linguistic energy and unflappable exuberance, which celebrates the spirit of the individual and offers a brave and brilliant opposition in the face of the inhumanity of war.
